Do you see a dog you like?
In addition to giving us a call,
Fill out our online adoption
application and we'll be in touch with you soon.
There are many more dogs available than are profiled on this page. As with all rescue groups, we constantly hear of other dogs in need of homes, and, while we try to update our web site regularly, getting photographs taken, film developed, and photos scanned for uploading onto the web site takes time. If you don't see the kind of dog you're looking for, please don't hesitate to call us. On a daily basis, we are in touch with shelters, pounds, humane societies, and other rescue organizations. While we will always recommend the hearty mutt, we will not hesitate to direct you toward a organization that works specifically with pure bred dogs, if that is your interest. Most pure breed organizations have members who are concerned with the rescue of that particular breed. If a mutt does not strike your fancy, we strongly encourage you to rescue, rather than buy outright, purebred dogs whenever possible. Our philosophy is: Don't Buy. Don't Breed. Rescue!!!
Important Note: While the dogs on this page need a home, they are relatively safe from the threat of euthanasia. The dogs at the highest risk are the pound dogs on page 3. The pound doggies only have a short amount of time in which to be adopted, or they will be killed. We ask that you consider the shelter dogs first. Thanks.

Ruby is
a 8 yr. okd red/chocolate liver (a very unusual color), spayed, female
Australian Cattle Dog.
The home we seek for Ruby will be one of little drama and NO CHILDREN. Ruby requires a dog-savvy person. This person will be grounded, dedicated, patient, and willing to take on a project.
Her owner died and she was brought to rescue with another 15 yr. old ACD (who has since passed away). She was raised with him, and apparently was socialized as a youngster.
Ruby is housebroken, good with livestock, okay with cats.
She has had some extraordinary obedience training in her past and with a little tune-up has awesome potential. Ruby is a fetching maniac, and will fetch until she drops. She loves to go for car rides, and can be very protective of her vehicle.
She is, however, very fearful of new people. She has imprinted on her foster person and in her own environment where she feels safe and secure, she is an intelligent, loyal, affectionate, animated, exuberant, happy dog.
Ruby will have to have a special person to either accept her as she is, or to work her thru her fear issues. She is amazing and her foster wouldn't part with her at all, but Ruby is spending a lot of time sequestered, and this is no life for such a great girl.
It is with a lot of heartache she is being put up for adoption, but the hope is that she will be able to find a forever home that can enjoy her wonderful loving personality, her antics, her amazing capabilities and give her what she must have had before her only person in life passed away from cancer and left an under-socialized dog in this big, foreign, and very scary world.
Ruby is currently being fostered in Santa Rosa, Ca. |

Travis is a 6-8 year old, 37 lb, neutered, male, red speckle cattle dog with a smooth coat & docked tail. He has a large black patch and double mask with the familiar cattle dog Bently mark.
This dog is very attentive, affectionate, wanting to please, alert, house broken and gets right into the car, though so far is a bit nervous on the ride.
He is very playful with other dogs, and miraculously, to watch him play without limping at all, you would never realize he had any injuries whatsoever.
He appears to have low to moderate energy, except when playing. He knows to sit, and is very people-social which is a good thing in this breed.
Someone will be very lucky to have the opportunity to add him to their family. Travis will look directly into your eyes, crawl up under your arm and into your lap for hugs and give soft licks.
Travis is on a daily
regimen of joint supplements and pain management as needed. He should not
be considered a candidate for strenuous exercise. ** Travis easily passed his temperament test at the shelter. He was given to rescue, deemed unadoptable because of his age and a limp. What a tragedy not to have given this dog a chance.
Travis is currently being fostered in Santa Rosa, Ca. |

Kayla is a petite mid-sized mixed breed dog, approx. 12 to 14 yrs. old. She is spay, current on all vaccines, & tested negative for heartworm. She was surrendered to us as a ten yr. old Australian Shepherd mix. She may be an Aussie mixed with Sheltie, Spitz, American Eskimo, or who knows what.
Kayla is exuberant and bright, enjoys walks and rides in the car.
Kayla needs someone committed to grooming her consistently, as she has baby fine fur that will matt easily if not cared for. We are hopeful, that even though she is a senior, someone will find it in their heart to take her in. If that is possible, then we are able to rescue yet another dog in need.

Page two contains photos and bios of dogs available through our 3rd party/assisted adoption program. This is a service that NBCR&P offers to dogs other than those in our care who are in need of homes. While we generally do not take in dogs surrendered by private parties, we do what we can to assist in the placement of these animals. We do, however, strongly encourage people to explore every possible alternative to surrendering their pets. (See our Last Resort section.)
For more information about our assisted private adoption guidelines, please proceed to page two.
There
are many more dogs available.
Please call us and we will gladly discuss your adoption
options
and help you decide which dog, if any, is best for your lifestyle.
