There are many more dogs available than are profiled on this page. As with all rescue groups, we constantly hear of other dogs in need of homes, and, while we try to update our web site regularly, getting photographs taken, film developed, and photos scanned for uploading onto the web site takes time. If you don't see the kind of dog you're looking for, please don't hesitate to call us. On a daily basis, we are in touch with shelters, pounds, humane societies, and other rescue organizations. While we will always recommend the hearty mutt, we will not hesitate to direct you toward a organization that works specifically with pure bred dogs, if that is your interest. Most pure breed organizations have members who are concerned with the rescue of that particular breed. If a mutt does not strike your fancy, we strongly encourage you to rescue, rather than buy outright, purebred dogs whenever possible. Our philosophy is: Don't Buy. Don't Breed. Rescue!!!
Important Note: While the dogs on this page need a home, they are relatively safe from the threat of euthanasia. The dogs at the highest risk are the pound dogs on page 3. The pound doggies only have a short amount of time in which to be adopted, or they will be killed. We ask that you consider the shelter dogs first. Thanks.

I am in a foster to adopt home 4/27/2013 Red Cola, a.k.a. R.C. is a neutered male who (in June of 2012) is approximately 2 to 4 years old. R.C. is a 46 lb., mid size dog. To meet R.C., you’d think he weighs much less, as he is a shorty. R.C. and Topper have become pals, though they do fine alone too. They both traveled all the way from the Elko NV animal control to us. R.C. is a very sweet and affectionate dog. He is a bit submissive, tentative and sensitive as if treated roughly by his prior home. He is housebroken, good on a leash, very quiet, and well behaved. R.C. has low energy for a dog his age. He can get bouncy and playful when given the opportunity, but mostly just wants to lie at your feet or relax in the sun. R.C. wants to be a fetching dog but hasn’t gotten the "return the ball to the person" part down. R.C. is a work in progress. He is so loving and wanting of attention that it shouldn’t be long before he gets obedience down. He already knows sit and he will shake with either front paw. He will be a wonderful addition to the right family or for a single person looking for a long term companion. He is being fostered in Rohnert Pak, CA. 1 |

Star
is 51 lb, spayed female McNab Shepherd. She was born in 2008 or 2009, is
micro-chipped, current on medical/vaccinations, in good health and vigorous.
Star would be best in quiet home with someone who is
experienced with this type of dog and has a strong alpha personality. |
Page two contains photos and bios of dogs available through our 3rd party/assisted adoption program. This is a service that NBCR&P offers to dogs other than those in our care who are in need of homes. While we generally do not take in dogs surrendered by private parties, we do what we can to assist in the placement of these animals. We do, however, strongly encourage people to explore every possible alternative to surrendering their pets. (See our Last Resort section.)
For more information about our assisted private adoption guidelines,
please proceed to page two.
There
are many more dogs available.
